Pre Covid the move to digital was approached in phases. Time was on the side of small business owners who, with limited resources, had other challenges to address.

Then Covid struck forcing decision makers to be bold and adapt to change almost overnight. Now, how customers are sold to, supply chains managed, and the way employees work is hugely different. But the need for sales remain and competition is fierce.
With footfall reduced, business owners are turning to the internet to find new customers. But before running an ad campaign, or turning to an agency for help, a word of caution is advised.
And that’s to carry out a website audit and some research of your own. You may not have the skills or resources to run in-house campaigns, but with some helpful information you’ll know what’s required.
Plan ahead for increased traction
Start with a high level strategy, it needn’t be complicated and there’s a wealth of information online to help. Qlutch have practical guides for most almost any marketing project. And Hubspot have free courses, blogs and videos to cover every aspect of inbound marketing.
First impressions count, so the layout of your website and content will keep the visitor interested, or have them bouncing off. Have lots of white space and up to date information and images.
Also think about how you’d like customers to move round your website. Try adding some clear Calls To Action, guiding the visitor to the outcome you want – a purchase, phone call or form submission. And consider any messaging on your Thank You and follow up pages, for example don’t just say thank for your message, guide them to another page they might like.
Reviewing keywords, site loading times and content can help enormously gaining organic traffic and helping paid advertising campaigns convert more efficiently and at less cost.
Now try this free website audit tool. You’ll receive a report with recommendations to help your website rank more highly and ultimately get more sales!
